For 42 years, Entrepreneur magazine, the premier source for everything small business, releases its Franchise 500 list, recognizing franchises that continually excel and prove time and again they are a smart investment with a strong opportunity for growth and profit.

The evaluation takes into account a company’s franchise fee and start-up costs, growth rates, training support and brand strength. The rankings also evaluate a company’s financial strength and stability through audited financial statements.

“In spite of the many challenges faced by the franchise industry in 2020, many existing franchisors continued to grow (and evolve), and new companies even continued to enter the franchise arena,” Entrepreneur wrote in its rankings.

Charleys Philly Steaks climbed to the top of the rankings, and it’s not hard to see why. The company just entered a groundbreaking partnership with Walmart, which will result in the opening of an estimated 100 new locations across the country in the coming months. A new mobile app, too, makes it easier for customers to place orders and has proven to be behind driving sales.
